Overview
The child pairs metal bottles filled with water of different temperatures (hot, warm, cold, ice cold) by feeling the temperature with the back of the hand. This refines the thermic sense and teaches careful handling of materials with temperature differences.
Objectives
What the child gains from this work
Discriminate four degrees of temperature by touch. Develop sensitivity in the back of the hand. Practice pairing by thermic quality. Build vocabulary for temperatures. Exercise care with hot/cold materials.
